BA (Hons) ArchitectureArchitecture is about people, their wellbeing in the environment and the design and making of beautiful sustainable buildings and places. BA (Hons) Architecture offers grounding in a broad range of skills which are necessary to generate excellence in architecture. Design is the core subject with projects that increase in complexity as the course progresses. It is supported by Architectural Context (the history and theory of Architecture) and Architectural Technology (structural design, environment, services, construction and materials). Communication and presentation skills such as sketching, drawing, model making and computer-aided design are also covered. A studio-based approach encourages a sythesis of the technical, theoretical and aesthetic strands. In addition to studio and workshop activities students are offered the opportunity of overseas visits. The degree is an ideal choice for undergraduate study and also an excellent foundation for those wishing to continue studying to become architects. Graduates have taken up careers ranging from management consultancy to virtual architecture in computer games. Successful completion of BA (Hons) Architecture carries with it Architects Registration Board and Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Part 1 recognition. The School also offers further architecture courses accredited by ARB (Architects Registration Board) and RIBA for Parts 2 and 3 leading to qualification as an architect. |
