Research in the School of Architecture, Landscape and Design

The Leeds School of Architecture, Landscape and Design features a distinctive, interdisciplinary portfolio of research among academic staff and postgraduate students, dedicated to examining and extending the fields of art and design. The research group maintains close links with researchers in the sister Schools of:

  • Arts and Graphic Design
  • Film, TV and Performing Arts
  • Built Environment - CeBE

Research is premised on the interactions of creative practice and critical enquiry, materiality and immateriality, hardware and software, action and audience, product and service, workshop and seminar room.

Activities include:

  • practice centred and theoretical research leading to exhibition, publication, conference presentation and other national and international level outcomes
  • conference, public lecture, symposium and workshop organisation, often in partnership with cognate University departments, public authorities and businesses
  • research and consultancy services for business, public authorities, government departments and cultural industries
