Success Stories: Body Train

Alison Tynan graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Sports & Exercise science. The BSc honours graduate has since gone onto start up her own business, Body Train.

Alison has drawn on her experiences to establish a business that specialises in creating custom-made health and fitness programmes. The West and South Yorkshire based company targets all audiences ranging from private to corporate business, with its various workshops in health and fitness including Kick the Diet and Wellness Coaching programmes.

In recent times, Alison has helped individuals and groups become educated in keeping themselves fit and active. She has done this through the workshops, and she has been congratulated with enthusiastic testimonials. A client of hers recently praised her work by saying, “Alison’s energy in holding the group was fantastic, I felt fully supported during the processes and her clear guidance helped uncover old habits and patterns I didn’t know I had”. With this kind of review, the company looks to go from strength-to-strength.

With obesity levels increasing in the UK, and health issues in general being a regular recurring theme, Alison has noticed that there is a nationwide need for people to become more active. Motivation seems to be the main reason why people are not active, and with the introduction of fun and interactive workshops, Alison is looking to change this.

In October 2007, Alison was granted a sum of money in return for her business idea through Business Start-Ups Proof of Concept scheme. The funds were granted to help Alison with her marketing and website design costs. Alison said;

“I have already allocated the money to promote my Kick the Diet programme. This now gives me the opportunity to advertise to a broader audience, and deliver weight management programmes to groups.”
