Success Stories: eko

eko

Down to earth designers who love to create is the inspiration behind the creative agency ‘eko’, a video production, new media and graphic design company founded by Andrew Watkins and Daniel Taylor in 2007.  Based in York, eko has produced corporate films for major clients such as Vodafone, 02, Bupa and Barclays as well as creating iPhone applications, designing and installing software for interactive kiosks, and completing a short film for Aviva which is currently being broadcast on ITV interactive.

Andy and Dan graduated from Leeds Metropolitan and York University with creative degrees in Computing / Multimedia and Graphic Design, and between the two of them they gained over 20 years experience producing a wide range of new media work before taking the leap and starting their own design agency.  ‘Dan and I worked for a major Life Company for many years prior to starting eko, this gave us the chance to make important links with its many business partners who we had produced work for, then we built on these links to help aid our own company’ said Andy.

Also, to help with the early stages of start up Andy and Dan applied to the ‘Proof of Concept fund’ available through Business Start-Up @ Leeds Metropolitan University, and received £1000 to produce leaflets and CD’s which showcased their work to potential clients.

Dan claims the secret to their success is ‘our combined knowledge of design and film making offers clients a creative solution in video, new media and print. We have different influences and different approaches but the same vision....  to do the best job in the most creative style’.

Future plans for eko create are to design documentaries for large corporations like the BBC and to work in radio production.
