Welcome to the Leeds Metropolitan University Student Destination Website (1998) Each year the University Careers Service is required to undertake a survey of the first destinations of all full time degree and diploma students. Once collected that information is forwarded to the Higher Education Statistics Agency where it is compiled and analysed along with similar data collected in the same way from other higher education institutions. In July each year HESA publishes a statistical report 'First Destinations of Students Leaving Higher Education Institutions' which provides this comparative data from across the higher education sector in the UK. A copy of the 1996/7 report is available in the Careers Centre, at City Site. The statistical reports and summaries provided here represent information collected on the first destinations of diplomates, first degree and certain higher degree students who successfully completed their qualification and graduated from the University in 1998. Data was acquired by means of two postal surveys, feedback from Course Leaders and a telephone survey. A combined response rate of 80.1% was achieved which represents a total of 2,364 known destinations and 587 unknown. It has been a national practice for all percentage figures quoted on First Destination Statistics to represent known destinations only. That is the practice applied within these pages. Except where indicated the figures represent a combination of UK domiciled and overseas graduates. Please note that some national surveys and league tables use figures which represent the destinations of UK domiciled graduates only. There are several sections to this website; you can either read a statistical summary of data, both local and national, with comparative data from recent years, or view detailed anonymous first destination information for all the courses surveyed presented by Faculty:
