Employers, Occupations and Further Study

  • The largest single employer of Leeds Met 'graduates' continues to be Leeds City Council, with a total of 67 - this figure represents a significant increase from the 2000 figure of 45. The second largest employer is once again the United Leeds Health trust with 36 graduates employed.

  • The number of graduates recruited into large private sector companies has increased slightly. The five largest recruiters of Leeds Met graduates employed 62 in 1998, 61 in 1999, 68 in 2000 and 70 in 2001.

  • The most popular occupations are those in the Health Service, teaching, recruitment, computer consultation & operation, sales and social work. However, as seen in last year's survey, very large numbers of graduates are now entering clerical & customer service related occupations as their first employment destination.

  • Analysis of the destinations by employer type (or industrial classification) shows education to be the largest employment sector followed by hospitals, telecommunications, hotels and restaurants, recruitment and banking.
