

Welcome to the Carnegie Faculty
With approximately 6,500 students and more than 550 staff, the Carnegie Faculty is the second largest Faculty within Leeds Metropolitan University and covers a wide range of subjects and disciplines. The Faculty is divided into the following four academic areas:
Our undergraduate awards focus mainly on applied learning and all our awards include a placement or work-based learning component. A wide range of postgraduate awards, aimed at enhancing students' personal and professional development are also offered. The curriculum is delivered in full-time, part-time and flexible modes of study, giving students options to combine study with other demands. We also offer a number of professional awards which have been developed in partnership with governing bodies and industry.
The Faculty has an excellent research profile in the areas of Sports-Related Studies, including sports science; tourism; leisure studies and events management, placing the university in the top 6 institutions in the country with research rated as including 'world leading' activities at the highest levels of 4* and 3*.
The Faculty is also home to University Sport which serves the whole of the University community and works closely with academics in the School of Sport. In recent years, individual and teams have competed at the highest level of university sport, climbing to third in the British University and College's Sport League and the Faculty has produced students who are currently world champions in their chosen discipline.
