The 4th International Conference on Networking Entities, NETIES '98 was  a unique opportunity for SMEs, public and private sector organisations, academics, and educationalists to meet and discuss telematics in an open forum and gain an insight into how organisations are currently using telematics to help their working practices and what the future applications are likely to be.

With the approach of the new millenium tele-education and teleworking are becoming increasingly prominent in society. Telematics (the application of telecommunications) offers new opportunities and challenges to all organisations enabling them to offer new levels of service to their customers, facilitate the radical redesign of business processes and respond to increasing commercial pressures.
