Learning and Information Services
Welcome

Learning and Information Services (LIS) consists of unified library, computing, telecommunications, information systems, reprographic, media and learning technology services to support the teaching and learning needs of staff and students and the University's administrative infrastructure. In addition, bookshops are located within the Beckett Park and City Campus libraries.
LIS support for students is delivered primarily from the libraries which provide a range of services and facilities to support students' learning, including Help & Enquiry services, individual and group study spaces, books, journals, CD-ROMS, PCs, printers/copiers and access to the WWW, electronic journals and external databases and services.

As part of our commitment to supporting flexible learning, we also provide access to many of our services online via the library online and Leeds Met Students Online.

To get a feel for the range and nature of services, take a look at the video:

Leeds Met is supporting many of its courses through what is known as a virtual learning environment and we have standardised on WebCT. This offers students online access to information and support materials for their own courses. This is part of an on-going strategy to develop a Managed Learning Environment including single log-in access to a range of online systems and services for staff and students.
