Three new laboratories have been provided at Beckett Park. The new laboratories are equipped with the latest series of language learning equipment which allow flexibility of use for either "traditional" tutor-led sessions or student self-access mode for independent learning situations.
In all labs, video tapes can be played back to the whole class via a wall-mounted monitor from a tutor-controlled video player.
In Lab A, each student position has a television monitor for viewing either the tutor's video, the video from a student video player or a choice from 7 live satellite broadcasts. Lab B has 3 self-access video playback stations also able to receive live satellite broadcasts.
Space has been allowed in the furniture to allow for more video-related equipment and for computer workstations to be incorporated as the needs of languages teaching changes.
C505 has 4 student positions for student self-access languages learning from audio cassette and video tape playback to local monitors.
