Assessment, Learning & Teaching Reflections

Thursday 1 Dec

Leeds Met celebrates and rewards excellent teachers through a variety of ways, but principally through our well-established Teaching Fellows (TF) network. TFs are selected annually and normally serve for a three-year period, after which they can re-apply, but all TFs from previous years are encouraged to remain active in the TF network. Principally we are keen to encourage colleagues from the teaching and learning-support communities across the university to network, share good practice and actively encourage other to get involved in ALT-related activities, for a modest pecuniary award.

TFs get involved in advocacy for good assessment, learning and teaching (ALT) practice in their own Schools and Faculties, cross-institutional projects, networks and initiatives, contributing to shaping ALT strategy and policy developments, and helping to organise the annual conference and the Scheme, Course, Award, programme and Level leaders’ fora. They meet together at around six-weekly intervals. We expect to open this year’s selection round in February 2006 and the slightly revised criteria for applying for Teaching Fellowships in 2006 will be available from Human Resources then. It’s worth noting that, that when selecting our nominees for the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS), we consider being a TF to be a distinct advantage.
