Assessment, Learning & Teaching Reflections |
Friday 9th December
The National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS) managed by the Higher Education Academy, was designed to celebrate and recognise outstanding HE teachers and learning support staff in England and Northern Ireland. Excellent teachers at Leeds Met have been recognised by the appointment of four colleagues as NTFS fellowship-holders: Viv Anderson, Ruth Pickford, Rob Ellis and Nick Beech. Each was awarded £50,000 to undertake development activities in relation to Assessment, Learning and Teaching (ALT) activities in their own institution, nationally and in internationally
Full details of the 2006 scheme have yet to be confirmed, but we do know that the process is to be split this year into a personal recognition award of £10,000 plus the opportunity to bid for further substantial funding individually or in combination with other NTFS fellowship-holders from previous years. There are no longer three categories of NTFS (formerly experienced staff, ‘rising stars’ with less than six year’s teaching experience and learning support staff). Instead, each institution will select three nominees as individuals or as a team, according to their strengths. The internal selection process will be starting in the new year and details will be made available via Deans and Associate Deans/Heads of Schools as they become available.
