Assessment, Learning & Teaching Reflections |
Wednesday 1 February, 2006
Teaching mature students in the field of education and training to become reflective practitioners has become a passion for me. I am fortunate to work with inspiring colleagues who have entered into engaging discussions about the principles that guide reflective practice. We have had opportunities to learn together about new approaches and to discuss the grounding of those approaches in theory, as well explore ideas with external examiners and networks of interested people. The development process has been broad and varied, involving personal action research, conferences, working with colleagues and debating challenging developments. The ideas have continued to move on through active groups and are now spreading more widely through staff development and new materials for the University.
I was delighted to be a newly appointed Academic and Educational Developer for Carnegie and the University from January 1 st 2006 . My role involves supporting the innovative implementation of the new Assessment, Learning and Teaching Strategy through such things as projects, consultancy and staff development. Reflection on my own development makes me appreciate the complexity of lifelong learning and the need to find opportunities wherever they may arise. If you have suggestions for opportunities to support this development then please contact me.
