Leeds Met South Asia and the British Asian Rugby Association – A winning partnership

British Asian Rugby AssociationA reception event was held last night to celebrate the success of the British Asian Rugby Association (BARA) in winning the 72nd All India and South Asia Rugby Union Tournament in Mumbai earlier this year. The team, sponsored by Leeds Met, joined staff, partners and friends of the university at the event which was held at Headingley Carnegie Stadium.

Guest speakers at the event included Chief Executive of Leeds Rugby Gary Hetherington, Vice-Chancellor of Leeds Met Professor Simon Lee and Co-founder of BARA Ikram Butt. In his speech, Gary Hetherington was thankful for being invited to the celebration and described the BARA team as outstanding ambassadors and pioneers for British rugby.

Representing BARA Ikram said: “On behalf of myself and the squad I’d like to give a whole-hearted thanks to Leeds Met South Asia and Carnegie and look forward to working with them in future.”
