Events management students make their mark
13/02/06

Five third year events management students organised ‘Make Your Mark’, an event to help raise awareness of the British Heart Foundation which took place at Victoria Gardens, Leeds City Centre.
Kate Fredericks, Hannah Limming, Jon Hall, Jocelyn Rudnick and Marcus Noblett displayed a large banner with the word ‘love’ stencilled onto it. Passers by were asked to ‘make their mark’ on the banner by signing a sticker with their name or a Valentine’s message, which was then stuck onto the banner to fill in the stencilled word.
The event attracted media attention from the Yorkshire Evening Post, and Leeds Rhinos players Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Chris Feather and Nick Scruton, who turned up to show their support. Leeds City Council also offered their support by sponsoring the event.
Hannah, who acted as Health and Safety manager for the event, said: “We are really happy with how the event has turned out. We want to thank everybody who has supported us and we hope this will help to raise awareness of the British Heart Foundation.”
Over 700 people made their mark on the banner, and many also made donations. The completed banner will be displayed on the Yorkshire Post building in Leeds on Valentine’s Day as the second part of the students’ project.
For more than 40 years, the British Heart Foundation has been
at the forefront of the fight against heart disease, funding research,
education, care and much more.
