A to Z of Shared Expectations

Leeds Met Equals

‘Met Office’

The Met Office is the overall term for all Leeds Met’s support or corporate services beyond our seven faculties. Our expectation is that those working in the Met Office will provide the highest quality support services to students, faculties, schools, governors, public bodies, the wider community and one another. While the Met Office is made up of teams with more specialist functions, such as Finance or Human Resources, we expect all involved to work across boundaries. This eighth element to Leeds Met, alongside the seven faculties, expects to meet these high expectations while containing costs and offering value for money.

Some of the Met Office’s work, like the Meteorological Office’s, is about forecasting and recording. In the case of universities, several funding and other public bodies wish to keep track of what is happening at Leeds Met. We only receive public funding on condition that we meet their expectations. We also have our own governance arrangements so Met Office staff must provide governors promptly and fully with the information and support which they expect. Where there are student-facing functions of the Met Office, we expect helpzones to point any students who are unsure to the right part of the administration.
