Leeds Met Equals

Wednesday 3 September.

Leeds Met Equals

My first impression at yesterday’s open evening was that our Business School had turned out as a team, with a remarkable display of team colours. They were welcoming prospective part-time postgraduate students already embarked on successful careers. This balances the equally refreshing reports of team efforts across the university this summer to recruit full-time undergraduates, helping those who might have been less confident of their career prospects. The challenge now is to ensure that all-comers are equally well met, such as FE students in the week beginning 8th September in Harrogate and international students during their induction week in Leeds which begins on 15th September.

A flourishing university recruits and retains students through inspiring them. The personal examples of recent graduates can often encourage students to see how their time in FE or HE will benefit them in their careers and wider lives. Diverse case studies are invaluable. The more we hear and understand the stories of a range of students who have personal experience that Leeds Met ‘equalises’, the better we can inspire other students. So please draw to my attention examples of those whose student experience at Leeds Met has helped them make the most of their talents.
