Leeds
Met Equals |
Friday 12 September
| Hundreds of delegates from more than twenty countries are coming to a management conference being run in Harrogate by our Leeds Business School. Meanwhile, hundreds of our own students from more than sixty countries will be arriving daily from overseas. In both cases, the quality of the welcome and of the total experience is vital. I would like to thank all those involved in organising and staffing what amounts to an international festival week as well as those who developed the strategies which led to these opportunities. |
|
This is timely because we are being visited today by funding
council officials who are interested in our next phase of long-term
strategy development. We will meet in my new Beckett Park office.
I am grateful to our Facilities team for swiftly and impressively
preparing North Lodge. Our visitors do not expect instant answers
as they understand that the arrival of a new vice-chancellor
is an opportunity for reflection. Talking of which, after this
first fortnight of reflecting via Leeds Met Equals, it is time
to broaden out the contributions to this column. Thank you to
those who have followed these first thoughts and to all who have
welcomed me to Leeds Met.
Professor Simon Lee, Vice-Chancellor, vc@leedsmet.ac.uk.
