This week’s action in the BUSA League programme features
the ‘War of the Roses’, various Varsity challenges
and surprisingly at this stage of the season, the fight for Premiership
survival! This week there are a total of 32 fixtures of which
14 will be played at home.
The White rose will challenge the Red rose on the Football field
as both the Men’s and Women’s 1st teams play Manchester.
Both teams will be hoping to improve on last week’s lack
lustre performances. The Men’s Football 3rd team will need
the determination they showed last week as they play an undefeated
TASC team on home turf.
Elsewhere the Rugby Union teams all reign supreme, as every
team leads their respective leagues and Women’s Rugby haven’t
even allowed anyone to score a single point against them! The
Men’s Rugby Union 2nd team will be hoping to stamp their
superiority against the Leeds 2nd team. After a long wait the
Men’s Rugby League 2nd start their fixtures against TASC
down at Milford Sports Club.
Many unbeaten teams (Women’s Badminton, Men’s Football
2nd, Women’s Hockey 2nd, Men’s Rugby Union 3rd
and Mens Tennis 2nd) travel to York & York St John University
and on current form most should return with the points.
For Mens & Womens Hockey 1st teams they will both need to
play at the top of their game as they play undefeated Durham
2nd teams. With both teams unbeaten these will both be keenly
contested fixtures with league leadership at stake here
In Netball the 1st team should record a win over the weakest
team in their league Chester. The 2nd and 3rd teams (both in
the same league) face tougher challenges against Leeds 3 & Sheffield
Hallam 2.
The Womens Tennis 1st team entertain Nottingham in a must win
fixture, if they are to remain in the Premier league. Nottingham
have suffered the same fate as Leeds Met (2 defeats), so the
pressure is on both teams to record their 1st win. Rubbers
might well be crucial in the bottom of the table skirmish.
The Mens 1st team in contrast, are on the crest of a wave,
with 2 wins under their belt they visit Newcastle to deal out
another pasting! Both Men’s & Women’s 2nd teams
travel away to York & Sheffield Hallam.
In the indoor ball sports Mens Basketball go to Sheffield and
will be seeking to remain at the top of the league. The women
will have an easier task as the opposition TASC, lie at the
bottom of the league table.
