BUSA Preview
This week sees some crucial must win fixtures for
both the men’s
and women’s football 1st teams. The men travel to a tricky
top of the table clash with Sheffield Hallam. Both teams have
the same record going into the game lets hope our boys travel
well and secure the three points. The women are at home to
an inform MMU Cheshire. After a good win last week the women’s
team need to maintain their composure in this historically
competitive fixture. Elsewhere the men’s 2nds v 3rds
will no doubt be another fiercely fought contest, after a draw
in the 1st encounter
who will want it more?
All the men’s hockey teams are away this week, with the
1st needing to resume winning ways at York if they are to challenge
for the league leadership. Women’s hockey 1st travel to
a tough away fixture in Manchester. This will be a difficult
game for our girls with Manchester only two points behind in
the table. The women’s 2nds have a Varsity clash with Leeds
Uni this week. The last time they met our girls’ beat them
2-1 to avoid relegation so you can guarantee the Uni will come
out fighting.
In rugby league the 1st team have their toughest fixture yet
in another top of the table clash away at Hull. The women’s
Rugby Union 1st are expected to clock up another impressive score
line against Liverpool but can anyone breach their defence? The
men’s 1st also take on Liverpool at home where the home
team enter as favourites as they are currently undefeated this
season.
Men’s and women’s tennis 2nds teams are both at
home this week which is a big relief after a few weeks travelling
to tricky away fixtures. The women’s 1st travel to Loughborough
for an unenviable clash where our girls will do well to return
with any rubbers at all. The men’s 1st are also away to
a struggling Liverpool. The team are playing well and are high
on confidence; a good result this week will see them close the
gap on rivals Manchester.
In the indoor ball sports men’s squash are playing Leeds
and should record another comfortable win to maintain their top
of the table position. Men’s basketball play Hull in a
historically physical grudge match. Netball 1st travel to Newcastle
and hope to build on the success of last weeks win. The 2nds
have a tough contest with an in form Sheffield Hallam; the winner
takes it all in this key fixture.
