Junior Windsor Fellowship launched at Leeds Met
16/11/05
Parents
and young people were invited to the launch of this year’s
Junior Windsor Fellowship at Leeds Met. The launch event was
held for the 100 new Year 10 students who will be beginning the
programme, along with 60 Year 11s who will be carrying on with
the initiative.
Following a reception in the Metceno, guests listened to a number of speakers, including Clinton Cameron and Lladel Bryant, a Leeds Junior Windsor Fellowship Graduate, who gave a particularly inspiring talk and then went on to do a rap about the Junior Windsor Fellowship.

The Junior Windsor Fellowship helps young people in Black and Asian communities to achieve personnel growth as well as exam success. The programme gives students the knowledge and confidence that will help them make informed and positive decisions about the direction of their lives.
The programme aims to improve projected GCSE grades, encourage
students to continue their academic or vocational education post-16,
equip students to make informed career choices and to develop
personal skills and effectiveness. The Junior Windsor Fellowship
is currently running in Leeds, London, Birmingham and Sheffield
and is aiming to extend to all parts of the country over the
next few years.
A residential summer school is put on for students at the end
of the course as a 'reward' for completing the course. Last
year’s cohort will soon be having their official graduation
ceremony at the New Connaught Rooms in London.
